Silver-Balled Devil

One of my major glowing red weakpoints is my nostalgia for pinball. I've already bought every PS3 Pinball Arcade table except two (not so interested in Goin' Nuts or Flight 2000), and I'm still chomping at the bit to hand over money for Junk Yard, Black Rose, and *especially* Fish Tales, should they become available. I stand by any prior claims that all-DLC games are for suckers, and that only a chump would pay more than the retail price of a full game for content in a free one. This is an exception. Because pinball.

Junk Yard. Orillia (ON) briefly had an outstanding little arcade in the late 90s, and this was one of the machines my highschool buddies and I would drive the 40 minutes to play (although I must admit the only Taco Bell for an hour in any direction was also a draw. Back then, I was all about dog food with sand in it). This is one I'd own in a minute IRL if I had the cash and the basic grasp of maintenance, but at the very least I want to see it hit Pinball Arcade. I love setups like this and Terminator 2:Judgement Day (which I got overexposed to when it was new and had forgotten how good a table it really was). The big, wide-open lower section and multitude of combo-able ramps and loops at the top makes for a fast game with good opportunities to nudge, it's easy to get the ball rocketing around at wild speeds if you're not in a "precision" mood, and the gimmicks don't clutter the actual playfield (a pitfall especially for 90s machines). Taxi, the Elvira tables, and Junk Yard's contemporary Attack from Mars are other great executions of that style.
